Bus routes

The inevitable happened this afternoon.
The usual lazy car drivers parked either side of the road half on the pavement, only the bus couldn't get past anyway.
The nanny couldn't leave her charges to shift the car onto the drive, the visitor couldn't walk across the road, the resident couldn't drive off the footway onto their drive.
A lot of tooting and other residents trying to find out who owns what and where.
At least when we had bus stops, you had a clue if buses were likely to come along the road or maybe if drivers could actually leave their car on the road and walk to wherever they want to go rather than half on the road and half on the footway and on the same side of the public highway as the address they are going to.
It wouldn't be so bad, but all properties have off road parking (like Hall Park, but that's yet another story).
I could suggest single yellow lines on all bus routes to help buses, emergency vehicles and other necessary vehicles actually being able to traverse the public highway as the law demands.
Yes, I'm still a miserable ol' git!! But come on guys and gals, a little consideration goes a long way. I don't expect school children to know any better (isn't it easy to park this week?), but without a little guidance the problem will get worse.

Obstructing the public highway is the technical term. You are only allowed to 'park' in marked parking bays or stop for loading/unloading of goods .
The public highway is for 'traversing', not for leaving objects on.

ReportNC - perhaps you could enlighten the forum as to why parking on the public highway is breaking the law (other than where there are signed restrictions, or close to junctions, which are, of course, routinely ignored).

ReportJust to reinforce the scale of the 'problem', in my short road, out of 17 properties (all with with drives and or garages to get vehicles off the public highway), I counted 7 vehicles all of which were half on the road and half on the footway at 7:30 this morning.
Which actually is worse than it sounds as 3 properties do not have a vehicle and all the others had space off road to avoid breaking the law.
This is just one road, obviously, I don't believe many roads are like this (oh, yes I do!!).
