Just in case anyone was wondering - the High Street is shut between the Kings Road traffic lights and Castle Street because there is a hole in the road.
Looks like collapse of a previously dug hole (it's clearly not a pothole, just for a change)

Sadly, the hole is no more, so Monday will end up with the usual chaos - but you never know with these dodgy old pipes and things in old town centres.

ReportI hope it lasts until next week when all the Chelsea Tractors types come up Castle Street and try to go up Chesham Road. Sat Navs take them up my way and they try to get through Ashlyns, Swing Gate Lane, Briar Way in their blind demand to get to the by-pass. I got to thye stage yesterday of sending them everywhere except where they wanted to go. They just have to follow the diversion signs, but they requires a degree of ability to follow directions. No wonder the country is in the state it is. I agree, keep it closed and let's reclaim our town. They will get the hang of not being able to do exactly what they want!

Suddenly the high street is how we all imagined it was going to be when they finished the bypass!
Sitting outside supping a cofffee was actually pleasurable without the constant rumble and crash!
