TV adverts?

Not strictly a Berkhamsted issue, but does anyone know if when you subscribe to Virgin or SKY the commercials programmes still have adverts?
I mean, Freeview does, but if you pay for the service, then no need for adverts, is there?
I don't think I can stand keep going to the loo every 10 minutes as the program I thought I was going to watch gets interupted.

I suspected as much.
As my mate Mr Spoke would say 'illogical' as if the adverts pay for the programs then that means between the licence fee, the advert cost and the delivery cost I'll just have to stick to the BBC. Funnily enough, we used to have a recorder that removed adverts by detecting the transmitted code the broadcasters use for switching the adverts on and off. I believe they then put pressure on the manufacturers to remove this useful function. The recorder then went to the tip and I won't buy another from that manufacturer. So it can be done!
