Not only have Bucks County Council resurfaced Station Road in amersham, Berkhamsted Road in Chesham is about to be resurfaced. All this after a road in Ashley Green was resurfaced.
They seem to have cottoned on to you can only patch up the patches that that been patched up upteen times before.
How long will it take Hertfordshire County Council to cotton on?
Have you also noticed they also tend to do things several times before it's right. A4251 by Hall Park Garage, Ravens Lane for starters. They even closed Hall for for 'resurfacing' and just a few patches appeared.
The Water people aren't much better. Junction of Woodlands Ave and Hazel Road took several goes recently. Currently they are having, what must be the 4th time, to fix the leak at the Upper Hall Park/Swing Gate Lane junction.
I won't mention the poor repair work they did in Holliday Street and Highfield Road earlier this year.
One day they will work out that a penny saved now is a pound spent soon.
Oh, I've just remembered they resurfaced part of the Leighton Buzzard road near Dagnall a couple of years ago, and it's already had to be patched up.

I'm I really a miserable ol' git?

That just reinforces my argument, doesn't it? I really don't see the point of having to keep sorting these things out. The argument off old pipes etc. may hold water (good that) in Woodlands Ave, but the Upper Hall Park one is only 50 years old - I can't believe I just wrote that!

In essense their habit of applying bad patches over the roads, and poor quality resurfacing when it does take place, is wasting our tax money. It may be cheaper to patch, and setting aside any number of accidents and wear and tear to our cars, in the long run you have to patch more often and it therefore costs alot more than doing a good quality resurface (or even a good quality road build!) in the first place. There are numerous studies and research to demonstrate this fact. I just can't make up my mind if they do it in the mistaken belief that they are saving money, or if the their procurement is so bad, the contractors they select don't care and are just setting themselves up to come back and repeat the patch in 12 months time.
