Apparently The Bricklayer's Arms, just up the road from us in Flaunden, has been named as the best restaurant in the whole of Hertfordshire by the Foodie Square guide.
Has anyone tried it? Is it as good as it sounds? I'm a big fan of gastro-pubs so will give it a go and see if it lives up to its reputation!
Has anyone else got any good pub/restaurant tips away from the main Berko High Street strip?

Now I'm sure that a long time ago (when I first started going to the pub) there used to be about 15 pubs in Berko.
How many are there now and can you remember the ones that have gone?
I'm counting places like The Old Grey Mare in Northchurch and who could forget the delights of the Crooked Billett!
There were 18 pubs in town to choose from when I was a teenager, starting from the Nortchurch end:
1.The Old Gray Mare
2.The George & Dragon
3.The Crooked Billet
4.The Rose & Crown
5.The Carpenters Arms
6.The Lamb
7.The George
8.The Crown
9.The Kings Arms
10.The Swan
11.The Goat
12.The Brownlow Arms
13.The Boat
14.The Crystal Palace
15.The Rising Sun
16.The Black Horse
17.The Bull
18.The Old Mill

The Bricklayers Arms is very good, great food and service was excellent. Took my Mum there when she was down for her 65th in November. Think it is expensive relative to other local places but the quality of food and standard of cooking is high so obviates the need to go into London.
By the way, The Boat ? Best pub in Berkhamsted ? Dont make me laugh , the place is pathetic and it attracts all the wrong sort of folk
