My wife and I are concerned about rumours overheard on the station platform about a brothel on Charles St! Hopefully that's all they are; silly, blokish, childish rumours. Does anyone know anything about this?

It wouldn't surprise me, do you remember when the one on New Road was closed down a few years back? (Note: I was never a customer!)

Where there is demand, there will inevitably be supply. So long as they don't make too much noise I think it's pretty harmless.

Wow, yes, the house number we heard about back in November was 50, which is the one on the opposite side of the street behind the officer in the middle of the photo! My wife and I have kept looking every time we passed by but haven't seen any evidence ourselves. It just goes to show, perhaps you should take rumours seriously that you overhear on the station platform!

I tend to agree. I was told about 'trafficking' of eastern europeans in Potten End in the 90's. Like you, did nothing. 6 months later arrests were made. I wonder if the authorities were collecting evidence or did I allow the misery to go on too long. Difficult decision!
