Is there any place around Berkhamsted that has a lake or
pond where you can go in warm days and spend a day by the lake where you can
maybe swim, have a picnic? I know so
many nice places in Tring but those are wild life sanctuaries and you can not
swim there. I know that we have plenty of swimming pools around but it is not
the same nice lazy picnic by the lake. Don’t you think? I do not mind to pay
for that pleasure.

ReportI think you will be out of luck with this one.
Quarry pits are the obvious places, but because of 'elf & safety' no one will let you near them, let alone actually try to swim.
Even the ones the other side of Oxford or Reading or used mainly for sailing and sailing and swimming don't mix at the best of times.
The Canal isn't bad! Potten End pond ain't bad either. The Thames isn't far either.
