A Berkhamsted photographer has released a collection of iconic football photographs from the last 20 years.
The Cradle of the Game has been described as 'nostalgic' and 'evocative'
Stuart Roy Clarke, whose grandfather was once the town's mayor, specialises in capturing the spirit of the sport rather than action shots. His latest book, The Cradle of the Game, brings together images spanning two decades and hundreds of miles in 200 pages.
The pictures, described by the Guardian as 'evocative, shamelessly nostalgic and absorbing', include shots of Bobby Robson delivering a dressing room talk in 2007, Arsenal taking on Newcastle United in 1994, the renovation of Manchester United's grounds in 1995 and enthusiastic fans at the World Cup in Germany in 2006.
Stuart, now 49 and with one daughter, attended Berkhamsted School and played for Sunday football team Berkhamsted Dynamoes. He's known as Gordon Taylor's favourite football photographer and is a lifelong supporter of Watford FC.
