Berkhamsted High Street will be closed for five nights while resurfacing work is carried out.

The road will be shut between Boxwell Road and Manor Street from 8pm until 6am, preventing vehicle access to the Berkhamsted town centre during the evenings.

The closures will begin on Monday, June 21. Hertfordshire Highways says it will limit 'noisy works' to between 8pm and midnight.

All through traffic will be diverted along the A41 bypass. Vehicle access to side roads in the area will be limited.

Bus services will be also affected, and details of service changes will be posted at bus stops and online.

Stuart Pile, Executive Member for Highways and Transport, said: 'This is essential work to improve the condition of the A4251. Due to the fact that this is a busy road and to keep our staff safe while they work, closures and diversions will be necessary and some disruption and delay can be expected. As ever, our highways staff will do everything possible to keep this to a minimum.

'In the meantime, we ask all road users to take extra care and leave extra time for their journeys while the work is going on.'

Residents and businesses in the area are being sent letters about the works. If you have any special requirements regarding access, deliveries to business premises or have any questions, contact Hertfordshire Highways on 0300 123 4047.

It's been advertised in the press, it's had notices up (those yellow boards with writing on), not sure why anyone is surprised.
It just seem sad that the whole High Street from St Jones Well Lane to at least Holliday Street isn't being done.
Mind you it would be much quicker if they didn't have to keep avoiding those 'pedestrian facilities' that are also collapsing.

Midnight seems very late for "noisy works" to be carried out.
