The lowest temperature of the autumn so far was recorded today - just down the road from Berkhamsted.

Could this winter in Berkhamsted be as cold as last year's?
Forget the bracing Scottish Highlands or the blustery North York Moors - according to MeteoGroup, Chesham was the coldest part of the UK when the temperature fell to -5.7c (21.9f) shortly after dawn this morning.
Both Berkhamsted and Chesham sit in a 'frost hollow' - low-lying areas or valleys which are far more susceptible to frost than other locations nearby.
Cold air slides down valley sides overnight, and the hollow prevents it from moving away quickly.

Done now, bit slushy, but passable with care
