A man who died when his car hit a bridge on the A41 bypass was due to stand trial for child sex crimes the following day.

Robert Stringer, 57, from Bridgeworth, Shropshire, was killed when his red Peugeot 507 crashed near the Bourne End exit ten days ago.

Stringer, a primary school teacher, was due to appear at Isleworth Crown Court in London the next day.

The charges against him included indecent assault, rape of a child under 13, rape of a child under 14 and sexual assault on a child under 14, according to the Hemel Hempstead Gazette

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the charges involved four female victims and the alleged attacks took place between 1999 and 2009.

An inquest into Stringer's death was opened and adjourned last week. Witnesses to the crash should contact DC Dee Rayner on 0845 33 00 222.
