Richard Page racked up a £1,078.73 bill while serving as MP for South West Hertfordshire.
Sir Thomas Legg's long-awaited review into Commons spending concluded that Page, together with another 389 MPs, must pay back a combined £1.12 million of "invalid" expenses.
Sir Thomas assessed the claims of 752 current and former MPs, in an audit of expenses going back to 2004.
He said the system was "deeply flawed", the rules "vague" and that it had been up to MPs to "self certify" the propriety of their claims.
Page has already paid back £599.37, but Sir Thomas has ruled that he must now find the outstanding £479.36.
Page was the MP for South West Hertfordshire from 1979 until 2005.
The current MP for South West Hertfordshire, David Gauke, and the MP for Hemel Hempstead, Mike Penning, have both been told there are "no issues" with their expenses.

Wonder how much he spent during his previous 25 years in the position...!
Not a lot as I didn't notice him doing much.
He did shake my hand once, though!
Nick Lyle did more.

By my deductions, he must have run up that £1,078.73 bill during 2004-2005, his last year as an MP. Wonder how much he spent during his previous 25 years in the position...!
