A man was killed last night when his car hit a bridge on the A41 bypass. 

The red Peugeot 407 crashed near the Bourne End exit at 11.30pm. 

The driver, a man in his 50s from Shropshire, was travelling in the direction of Watford and had just passed the Bourne End service station. 

Emergency services used cutting equipment to free him from the car, but he died at the scene.
