A 72-year-old man who was hit by a car in Berkhamsted at the weekend has described his "miraculous escape".
Croxley Green parish councillor David Wynne-Jones was knocked down at a pedestrian crossing at about 1.30pm on Saturday afternoon.
He rolled across the bonnet of the vehicle and lost consciousness when he hit the ground, but was treated only for minor cuts and bruises at Watford General Hospital.
He told the Watford Observer: “I would say it was a miraculous escape. I am very lucky to still be here. I would also like to say that the treatment I received from the paramedics and all the NHS staff was absolutely first rate. I was really impressed with them all.”
The accident came little more than 24 hours after a woman in her sixties was also knocked down at a road crossing in Berkhamsted, but walked away without any injuries.
