The cards are written, the flowers are bought and the chocolates are wrapped (and if not, boys, there's always the petrol station) - but if you're still looking for the perfect romantic treat for Valentine's Day on Sunday, here's what Berkhamsted has to offer.
-
Watch Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta in Grease at The Rex
- Help a good cause with your romantic dinner for two: Cafe Rouge in Berkhamsted High Street is offering a special menu from today until Sunday to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital's 'Kiss It Better' appeal. For every three-course meal sold between now and Sunday, the restaurant will donate £1 to the charity, which researches causes and treatments for childhood cancer.
- Be inspired by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John: It's too late to buy tickets to see Breakfast at Tiffany's at The Rex on Valentine's night, but seats are still available for the cinema's showing of 1978 classic Grease on Saturday evening.
- While away the night with a few glasses of bubbly: Brasserie Gerard in Berkhamsted High Street is offering a Valentine's weekend deal with a three-course set menu, coffee and two glasses of Piper Heidsieck champagne for £34.95.
- Cosy up in the countryside: If financial constraints are on your mind if you simply fancy escaping the coupled-up crowds, download a map of the National Trust's beautiful Ashridge Estate Walk, ranked the third most popular walk in Britain.
- Treat your date to some sophisticated sounds: String octet the London Concertante play Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn at St Peter's Church in Berkhamsted High Street on Saturday at 8pm. Tickets cost £12.
- Enjoy the beautiful game: If men kicking a ball around a pitch is your idea of romance, watch Berkhamsted FC play Luton's 61FC at home at Broadwater on Saturday. Kick-off is at 3pm.
