Where have the geese gone?
By ymeiask | Tuesday, February 22, 2011, 09:20
I spotted a dead goose this morning in the Ravens Lane lock. The usual mob were missing from the moor area, so has Christmas come early for someone or has something else happened?
Anyone know?

ReportHave the eggs definitely gone? When I fed them this morning, one of the three was sitting in the same place as they hatched the last eggs.
Cheers,DAZ.

ReportI saw a fox skulking around the lower reaches of Lombardy Drive, near the undergrowth fronting onto London Road a few weeks back. Only a few foxtseps (foxtrots ?) down to the canal from there....

ReportI've been thinking about this one (wot again, I hear you ask!). We used to get regular visits from the local fox population. The trails passed through Long Green, Sandpit Green and the fields alongside Ashlyns. They then appeared to come down across Velvet Lawn, into the Swing Gate/Hilltop estates. We have seen the fencing installed to keep humans away from school facilities at Ashlyns which could suggest the trails were blocked. Animals would then continue along the ridge and come down the likes of Chesham Road (not many pickings there!). The town centre offers lots of food discarded (my dogs can vouch for that!!) and it doesn't take a lot of imagination to spot a nice juicy white goose on the moor might make a nice meal for a hungry vixen with a few cubs to feed. I wonder if the wild-life trails were taken into account when the prison was created?
