Lively locals in Berkhamsted are swapping crowded gyms and membership fees for a free-of-charge canalside workout.
Following in the fitness footsteps of Muscle Beach in Los Angeles, a £25,000 open air gym has opened in Canal Fields.
The new facility, which is free to use, was funded by the Big Lottery Fund and organised by Dacorum Borough Council and Dacorum Children's Trust Partnership in consultation with Berkhamsted Community Partnership.
The permanent outdoor "Fitness Trail" offers a health walker, a leg stretch, a mini ski, a powerpush, a sit-up machine and a play trail for toddlers.
Councillor Colette Wyatt-Lowe, Portfolio Holder for Community Services and Public Protection, said: "We want to encourage healthy living and show children and young people the benefits of improving their levels of fitness.
"With no monthly gym subscription needed, this new equipment gives all ages the chance to access and enjoy free fitness in this fabulous location."
Additional equipment is due to be installed in the George Street playground later this year.
Have you tried out the outdoor gym equipment in Canal Fields? What did you think? Let us know.
