Trains to and from London Euston were delayed this afternoon after a vehicle hit a railway bridge in Berkhamsted.

Speed restrictions were put in place on the line at around midday while the damage caused by the accident was assessed.
But the bridge was judged to be safe and a normal service has resumed in time for the Friday night rush hour.

I did wonder what was causing all the disruption- rarely get told anything on the train! There seems to be have been a bad run of train delays recently.

ReportCurrently more train delays due to a track fault at Berkhamsted. Engineers expect work to repair it will take at least another half an hour, and in the meantime all trains are being diverted via the slow line. A bad day for those travelling with London Midland...
